Our Legacy WORK SHOP and Converse are embarking on a collaborative journey, introducing a fresh iteration of the timeless Chuck 70. This new design challenges conventional notions of perfection, deliberately incorporating subtle irregularities that pay homage to the artisanal craftsmanship of earlier Chuck Taylor models.
The collection presents two distinct versions of the Work Shop Chuck 70: a rich, deep Espresso hue and a raw, undyed Natural option. Both styles are meticulously constructed from organic cotton canvas, underscoring a commitment to quality and natural materials. A thoughtful detail from a previous collaboration reappears with a hidden Chuck Taylor patch on the inner side, while the outer side proudly displays an embroidered Work Shop yin-yang emblem.
Jockum Hallin, the visionary founder of Our Legacy and creative director for Our Legacy WORK SHOP, shared insights into the design philosophy. He explained that the intention was to craft their ideal Chuck 70s by incorporating a human element, drawing inspiration from the charming imperfections seen in Chuck Taylors manufactured between the 1960s and 1980s. This includes embracing the slightly elevated and uneven hand-applied foxing tape, the uniquely shaped toe bumpers, and the shorter toe caps, transforming what might typically be considered 'flaws' into celebrated aesthetic features.
Enthusiasts worldwide can anticipate the release of the Our Legacy Work Shop Converse on September 12. The collection will be accessible through both Our Legacy's official online platform and Converse's website. Additionally, select retail partners, including Our Legacy stores in prominent cities like London, Stockholm, Berlin, and Seoul, as well as Dover Street Market locations in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, and Beijing, will carry these distinct sneakers.
